With Version 4, we've made the library available online. Technical requirements for access are a web browser and internet connection. Site licences come with additional controls to manage user accounts across the organisation.
Users can now access new pictures as soon as they are created. Plus we've added:
Access to photosymbols online is through username and password authentication. For site licences, we supply the organisation, usually the IT department, a managers admin account which allows you to authorise and manage users organisation-wide. You are able to allocate, modify and delete user accounts yourself. Each user you set up then has their own log-in account based on username and chosen password.
Each users account gives access to the online-picture library and other features ticked above. Note that users can store their own pictures for use alongside photosymbols. This is designed to allow more personalised and local information. For example, photos of staff teams, buildings, maps, etc. This area is private and secure for each user. But we can also create an area for photos to be shared across an organisation for site licences.
We run Photosymbols 4 on a Xen-based virtual server, hosting Ruby on Rails. You can see the technical specifications of the hosting server here : http://www.brightbox.co.uk or check our faq.
The Browser runs in standards compliant XHTML and CSS. We do also supply a static edition on USB flashdrive, which runs as an installable web app. This is for organisations where people may not be able to access the web. For example where access is restricted for security reasons, or for remote sites without internet connections.
We can also work a custom solution for most intranets if required.
Please get in touch to discuss a solution.
We include one year's unlimited online library access. You will have the option to renew after this period. The static web app version is owned, and can continue to be used by your organisation even if you decide not to renew the online service.
Photosymbols is available with single and multi-user licences.
